he sandhill cranes that have been poking around the farm were the closest ever to the house the other day. I tried to sneak up to them to get a closer picture but this as far as I got. Dom’s grandfather, Ronald Herman, gave some of his land to establish a protected nesting area for sandhill cranes, outside of Symco, Wisconsin. I love seeing these birds. A couple of years ago, a crane took off from a field next to my car as I drove by on the way to work, and flew level with my car just 15 feet away from me for a good chunk of road. I was so awestruck I almost cried.
The Intention of this Blog
is to share my adventure of repurposing my family farm into art space and re-rooting myself in an 'old fashioned' way of life with my folks, the original Do-It-Yourselfers. It is a platform for me to share with others the things that I learn as I apprentice myself to my parents and grandparents.
