This weekend we planted a ton of potatoes!  We often plant last year’s potatoes, but every few years we buy new ‘seed potatoes’.  This year we bought red and white seed potatoes and used up some from the cellar.  We cut them apart into chunks, aiming for two ‘eyes’ a piece.  Two eyes that are growing sprouts that is.

Seven years ago, when my friend Miki from Japan was staying with me and making pots, she was hunting around my house for inspiration, and decorated a pot with well-sprouted potatoes:miki48

Working with the old potatoes this weekend reminded me of that pot, so I hunted down a couple images to show you.    Check out Miki’s blog here, her work is so much fun. miki52
