hen we demolished the trough and surrounding floor last week, we also removed the metal posts holding up the that side of the barn because they needed to be replaced. We jacked up the floor on temporary posts, and this week my Grandpa and I are working on casting concrete footings for the new posts. I am so lucky that he has the time, experience, and tools to help me with various parts of the barn’s renovation. He ran home to grab his transit level, pictured above, to assess the discrepancies in the barn’s foundation as we tried to determine what height we need to pour the new footings to. I failed to grab his picture during the process because I was helping him, and when asked if I might take his picture with the transit, he of course, demurred, as he is not one who likes the lime-light.
